Before he took his first breath, Levi was loved.
As our son and only child, we welcomed him into the world with big dreams and plans of what he would one day become. The possibilities were endless, but really, we just wanted him to be healthy and happy, and to watch him grow into a man that would eventually have his own family someday. An unfortunate accident changed everything, except that Levi was - and is - still loved.
Levi was a happy, funny child. He loved to play games and was a lot of fun to be around. He loved holidays, especially Halloween – which may be because of his fun-loving nature. As he grew into adulthood, he looked intimidating, but in reality, he was a teddy-bear.
Those who knew him well would describe him as friendly and easy-going. He could come across as shy, but he loved people and would help anyone in need.
Winter was his favorite season. In high school, he belonged to the Ski club, which was a natural fit for him since he started skiing at the age of five. He eventually became certified to help blind skiers. Levi enjoyed fishing, hunting, and sitting around a fire and spending time with family and friends, and being outdoors, generally.
However, his most favorite interest was buying and restoring old trucks. In fact, when he was a small boy, he would modify his Matchbox cars and trucks. As he grew, he loved going to junk yards and told us that he if could do anything, he would want to have his own junkyard. He had a natural ability to see a transformed vehicle in his mind’s eye, when everyone else could only see a piece of junk. He was gifted in this way.
After his untimely death, we were committed to restoring Levi’s last project - a 1978 Ford F350 dually - and started Levi’s Pennies from Heaven Foundation and the Annual Truck & Car Show in 2018.
Everything we do now, is to honor the memory of our son, Levi.
